Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta)

The Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) provides an intuitive method that allows users to type English letters that are mapped to a phonetic scheme using a QWERTY keyboard, and then converts these English letters into complex script languages and various encoding formats. The Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) is very useful for bilingual and multilingual users who normally use a QWERTY keyboard and would like to type English letters to compose messages or documents in their native Indic language. Users who speak but do not write a language can use the phonetic schemes to write in that language. The Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) supports the following 11 Indic languages in this release.

• Bengali
• Gujarati
• Hindi
• Kannada
• Konkani
• Malayalam
• Marathi
• Punjabi
• Sanskrit
• Tamil
• Telugu

The following features make the Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) easy to use:

• The Microsoft Phonetic Input Tool (Beta) utilizes a QWERTY keyboard--no special hardware is required
• Languages can be easily selected from the standard Windows Language bar
